What's the difference between vented and vent-free?

A vented gas fireplace uses a flue or direct-vent pipe to exhaust combustion gases outside — it produces a larger, more realistic flame and is the preferred choice for aesthetics. A vent-free fireplace burns so efficiently that no external venting is needed, giving you complete flexibility in placement. Both are safe when installed by a licensed professional.

Can you convert my wood-burning fireplace to gas?

Absolutely — it’s one of our most popular services. We install a gas log set or gas insert directly into your existing firebox and connect it to your home’s gas supply. The result is a beautiful, low-maintenance flame at the touch of a button, with no more wood, ash, or creosote.

Do gas fireplaces require a chimney?

Not necessarily. Vent-free models require no chimney at all. Direct-vent models use a sealed two-pipe system routed through an exterior wall — no traditional chimney required. This makes gas fireplaces viable for rooms or homes without an existing chimney.

Are gas fireplaces energy efficient?
